MEREDITH MECHANIK

RCSWI | EMDR Trained Therapist

As a therapist and social worker, I strive to foster an inclusive, affirming space where clients can show up authentically.  Whatever difficulty or challenge may have brought you to consider therapy, my role is to walk alongside you, holding space for both pain and possibility, as we work towards healing and growth.

My therapeutic approach is strengths-based, trauma-informed, and compassionate, rooted in an awareness of the ways that our mental health is influenced by our identities and lived experiences. My own experience as part of the LGBTQ+ community has informed how I show up as a therapist, with a strong emphasis on advocacy and self-compassion. Through my therapeutic work, I am passionate about helping clients navigate internal and external barriers to acceptance.

I have experience working with kids through adults, with a focus on young adults, parents, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. In addition to addressing anxiety, depression, and life transitions, I also support clients through concerns related to identity development, neurodivergence (including ADHD), and perfectionism. With a decade working in college student affairs and a master's in higher education leadership, I am well-versed in the stressors that come with the transition from high school to college and as well as the challenges that can present in college.
